Location: Our Lady of the Lake Surgical Hospital, Slidell, Louisiana (St. Tammany Parish)

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical First Assistant to join our surgical team in Slidell, LA.
About the Role
As a Surgical First Assistant, you will provide direct support to the operating surgeon throughout every stage of the surgical process — preoperative setup, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative care. You’ll play an essential role in helping our patients receive safe, efficient, and effective care during their surgical experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare the operating room and assist with patient positioning
Provide direct assistance during surgery, including injection of local anesthesia, insertion of trocars, suturing, securing drains, and applying dressings
Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper infection prevention practices
Communicate surgeon preferences to the surgical team and ensure availability of necessary instruments and supplies
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of surgical anatomy, emergency response, and perioperative best practices
Qualifications
Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required
Current certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (NBSTSA) preferred
Certified Surgical Technician with at least 5 years of suturing experience may be considered
Minimum 5 years of surgical experience required
Current BLS certification required
